Painting of Mars disarmed by Venus inside vulcan's Forge

The word "Onyx" itself comes from the Greek word for "fingernail" or "claw," as legend says that Onyx was created from the goddess Aphrodite’s fingernails, which were transformed into stone.

Disclaimer

NONE OF THE STATEMENTS MADE OR PRODUCTS SOLD HERE ARE INTENDED TO CURE ANY PHYSICAL OR PSYCHOLOGICAL DISEASE.

While most of our customers believe in the healing powers of metal and stone, we don't promote their use as an alternative to medicine or to cure any disease, physical or psychological.

The elements of the universe have effects on life which are sometimes beneficial and sometimes toxic.  Many of these effects have been documented by science.

For example, lead is known to be deadly and toxic to humans.

Lead is listed as element 82 on the periodic table of the elements and its represented by the symbol Pb.  Adverse exposure to lead, is known as lead poisoning.  Lead poisoning  is known to cause  the following:

Pain areas: in the abdomen or joints

Gastrointestinal: constipation, nausea, or vomiting

Developmental: learning disability or slow growth

Whole body: fatigue or loss of appetite

Behavioral: hyperactivity or irritability

Also common: baby colic, headache, insomnia, or memory loss

For this reason, and many others, we don't ridicule people's belief that other elements may have positive effects on the human body  and the mind

Just as lead causes gastrointestinal (physical) and developmental problems (psychological), we don't believe it's far-fetched to say that certain elements have healing properties beyond what science has yet to be able to prove or beyond what science is willing to prove, the latter requiring a non-existent economic incentive.

As we understand, Citrine is believed to help the digestive system (physical) or and bring pain relief to sore muscles.  Tiger's eye is believed to relieve anxiety and dispel mood swings (psychological).

However, the latter statements are not backed by enough scientific evidence to be used in mainstream medicine.

In looking back at history, there have been many elements which science erroneously promoted as being beneficial to humans, despite their toxic effects.  Economically motivated scientists led people to their deaths through misinformation campaigns.  Despite the ill effects of lead having been documented as early as 2000 B.C.² it wasn't until the 1970s that scientists finally agreed there was no safe threshold for lead, even for low exposure.³

Nevertheless, there are beneficial uses for lead, such as blocking radiation from x-rays at the doctor’s office.  Here is a well-known use for lead which is directly dealing with that which is unseen by the human eye.  Shungite is a carbon based crystal that similarly blocks radiation.

While all these stones and metals may or may not be beneficial for our health, they are not intended to prevent or cure any disease.

We hope our stone and metal jewelry makes you feel better anyway, we did handcraft it with love after all.
